The music on this page is from the album In My Garden by Peggy Lang. It is important to mention that Peggy is not completely satisfied with the mixes of these songs, but they are the best she could do with available resources. Arguably, this is just another case where the burden of economics may have gotten in the way of a more positive outcome.
When I asked Peggy how she would like to license the songs, she said, “Public Domain is ok, a gift as such… if they credit me , that would be wonderful, if not, then not. Let’s just trust the Universe with it. That is the original owner anyway. I was/am just a portal.”
Note: These files are provided in Ogg Vorbis format for the reason bolded in the statement below from the vorbis.com FAQ. Your computer might not support Ogg Vorbis without installing an additional codec, particularly if you are using a closed-source browser.
Ogg Vorbis is an audio compression format. It is roughly comparable to other formats used to store and play digital music, such as MP3, VQF, AAC, and other digital audio formats. It is different from these other formats because it is completely free, open, and unpatented.
In my garden there were lots of flowers
Tall and sweet, they were so strong
In the winter, they started dyin’
One by one, one by one
One by one, one by one.
They were from Kansas and Tennessee
Illinois and Miami
Looking for a place to just be free
In my garden by the sea
In my garden by the sea
CHORUS
They were happy and they were gay
Hundreds of thousands on a sunny day
Candlelight marches, big city parades
Candlelight marches, big city parades
From Oklahoma, Nebraska too
Students and teachers, a politico or two
They may have lived next door to you
But in my garden they found their roots
In my garden they found roots
Now in my garden by the sea
I wonder where my flowers might be
It could have been you, it could have been me
In my garden by the sea
In my garden by the sea
Gotta feel the power (power)
gotta know I’m alive
Gotta feel the power (power)
comin’ up from the deep inside
Wanna see a daydream,
in the middle of the day
Hey…
Wanna see the lovers (lovers)
with a smile on their face (lovers)
Wanna know they’ve found
their own special place
Wanna know they walk
through this world with grace
Grace…… walk with grace
CHORUS
I can see you’re slightly older
I can see it in your eyes
But you’re also slightly bolder
Tryin’ to survive
I can see you walkin’ with your mothers
And holdin’ your sister’s hand
Right in front of, right in front of
Right in front of the man
Wanna find a river (power)
and learn how it flows (power)
Wanna know the secrets
that nobody knows
And I don’t care how slow it goes
Goes…… how it goes
Fairy tales and songs
Nights last too long
Here again and gone
The beast and the burden must be named
Rivers rollin’ deep
Not enough sleep
Your memory I keep
The beast and the burden must be named
CHORUS
It’s a wide open highway
And you must be on your way
No time for talkin’
And lovin’ just gets in the way
Oh the beast and the burden must be named
Lovers go astray
Happens every day you might need to pray
The beast and the burden must be named
I know that you said
All you could say
I know that the words
Often get in the way
I think you for trying
I know you’re sincere well
And I know you were not lyin’
It was only the fear only the fear
That day will arrive
When these things will change
And with them they’ll bring us
All the love at far range
And then we’ll go on
Living in the perfect world again, again
Well I know you were not lyin’
It was only pretend
When the words they seem like objects
They’re crashing down like waves
The meaning is lost, whatever the cost
The love and value gave,
I know that you said
All you could say
I know that the words
Often get in the way
Oh I think you for trying
I know you’re sincere well
I know you were not lying
It was only the fear
CHORUS
And I know, if you knew
What you do to me,
You’d turn around and walk out the door
And I know if you knew
What you do to me
That I wouldn’t see you anymore
You wind me up, turn me on
And I’m ready to go
Then you tell me that’s not how you feel
You wind me up, turn me on
And I’m ready to go
And who can say this flame inside me ain’t real!
I want a friend to the end
Someone to hold your hand
Someone to sit there and smile
And I do my best to pass the test
Just to see you once in a while
I’d be with you in a minute
You know that I would
I can hardly stay on the ground
I loved you from the start
With all of my heart
But we’ll never ride that marriage go round
Two cherry time in Tahoe
And I’m down to my last dime
Started with a hundred lost it on the line
Better get back on the road
And leave this place behind
Two cherry time in Tahoe
And I almost lost my mind
CHORUS
The one-eyed Jack closed his eye
The keno board went blank
The Dealer took my money
Never even said thanks
Well you know I get tired of losin’
But someday I’m gonna win
Two cherry time in Tahoe
And I’ll be back again
Baby begged me not to go
But I went anyway like to surprise ‘er with a home
And no more bills to pay
Buy a big ol’ Chevy
Just as shiny as can be
Dreamin’ sure beats workin’
But I guess the dreams on me
I had me a run of diamonds
But he had him four old queens
Now don’t that just beat all you’ve ever seen
He started out and raised me
So what else could I do?
Winnin’ sure beats losin’
But it seems I always lose.
Someday I’ll build me a tree house
And watch the birds fly by
I’ll not ask them where they’re goin’
Or how high they fly.
How high do they fly?
Would you visit me in my tree house?
Will you sit and talk with me
Even though they say I’m crazy
Livin’ in a tree
Will you talk with me?
CHORUS
And you know I’ve been high before
With my feet off the ground
And my head in the clouds before
I never wanted anything more
Than to fly with you
Oh look what we can do.
Everything is just a little different
Nothin’s quite the same
Look at me livin’ in my tree house
Every day, we just fly away
OOO Oh…… just fly away.
